about

Original recording by Gary Hess (1966)

Recorded live at the Chessmate Coffee House (located at 6 mile and Livernois in Detroit, Michigan), using a stereo microphone and a reel to reel tape recorder.

Pat Bowlby was our dear friend, and mentor, who played with Charlie Parker, Claude Thornhill, Stan Getz, Stan Kenton and The Kingsmen. We met him at the Churches Lounge in Springfield Illinois, and it began our musical partnership.

Cleaned and Mastered by Jef Stevens (2016)
at Sage Court Studio, Ann Arbor, Michigan
for Musart Media

Please note- this is a rare, previously undiscovered recording that was done nearly 50 years ago, so please excuse any audio imperfections.
