Blue Hill Ocean Dance

from Michigan Mud by The Muruga Band

/

about

Muruga wrote Blue Hill Ocian Dance 41 years ago 1974 3 days after his son Aaron's birth, June 2 1974, on a dulcimer he also recorded it with Merl Saunders and the Rainforest Band featuring Jerry Garcia, on the grammy nominated album Blues from The Rainforest. it so happens that Justin heard this album when he was a young up and coming musician and was greatly influenced so he says by muruga's writing and Nada Drumming, so much so that justin wrote muruga on face book and thank him. muruga then listened to justin's music and wanted to record with him right away and invited him to a recording session at Sage Ct. this recording is a result of that friendship that grew into a musical and cosmic musical friendship and brother hood in the Spirit and Music. The Song reflects life that life is like an ocian the surface may be calm dancing or stormy but the bottom of the ocian remains still. LIKE WISE even if our life is hecktic if we meditate and go deep within the heart space we can get the calming efect of the uncreated Spirit Light of GOD our source...the song is in 5/8 & 9/8 with a 7/8 4 bar bridge the the improv also goes into a 4/4 as well as Free Time, reflecting the ocian many moods. Muruga named the song while recording it at Paul Stukies Home recording Studio on Blue Hill Main over looking the ocian. Paul is a producer and of Peter Paul & Merry, and was a great music and recording influence on muruga while he was producing the Winter Consort that Muruga, Steve Booker at the time was in, the album was on A & M records, recorded n 1967 & 68. Thus It was in Puls home the name BLUEHILL OCIAN DANCE WAS BORN.
